
Kochi: Natural rubber prices have risen 9 per cent year on year in the peak tapping period of December, even as consumption of natural rubber remains muted.
The price of the RSS-4 variety, which is used by the tyre industry, stood at Rs 132.50 per kg on Tuesday, up 6 per cent in the past six weeks. Rubber futures also indicated an upward trend, with January contracts trading at Rs 135.89 per kg on the Indian Commodity Exchange (ICEX).
