Several Vessels Near to Location of Huge Explosion in Port of Beirut

A massive explosion struck the port of Beirut in the early evening of Tuesday August 4th.

Lloyds List Intelligence and Marine Traffic listed the following vessels as being close to or at the port at the time of the explosion. The largest vessel close to the explosion was CMA CGM Lyra (IMO 9410806). 2011-built, Malta-flagged, 131,332 gt CMA CGM Lyra owned by Alize 1999 SNC care of CMA CGM SA of Marseille, France. Entered with Gard P&I. Claims leader for H&M is Norwegian Hull Club.

The Duke I (IMO 9228784), a Panama-flagged, 2002-built 24,997 gt chemical/oil products tanker. was a distance to the east of the point of explosion. It is owned by Basford Shipping Inc care of manager Dampskibsselskabet ‘Norden’ A/S (Steamship Co ‘Norden’ Ltd), of Hellerup, Denmark. ISM manager is Sea World of Monaco-Ville, Monaco.
