Navigator Gas Reports Lower Emissions, New Ammonia-Fuelled Vessel Orders

Navigator Gas (NYSE: NVGS) has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining progress on emissions reductions, corporate governance, diversity targets and investments in lower-emission shipping technologies.

The company that operates the world’s largest fleet of handysize liquefied gas carriers, recently communicated that the report details its efforts to improve environmental performance while maintaining operational and financial resilience especially taking into consideration the economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

Among the report’s key achievements was a 2.97% year-on-year reduction in total emissions across all scopes, alongside 89 fleet efficiency upgrades completed across 40 vessels. Navigator Gas noted the upgrades were aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions throughout its fleet.

The company also continued investments in lower-carbon vessel technologies, including orders for two ammonia-fuelled vessels and progress on the construction of four dual-fuel ethylene carriers.

On governance, NVGS was ranked first in Webber Research & Advisory’s 2025 Corporate Governance Scorecard, which the company described as recognition of its transparency and accountability standards.

The company also reported progress on workplace diversity initiatives, with women now representing 31% of onshore management roles as it works toward its 2028 gender diversity targets.

Additional milestones highlighted in the report included receiving a Gold Award from the Spinnaker HR Maritime Association for its employee wellbeing initiative and achieving a 100% compliance score in the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network’s risk assessment in early 2026.

CEO Mads Peter Zacho commented that the company remains focused on balancing commercial performance with long-term sustainability goals.

Despite economic and political headwinds affecting the pace of the energy transition, Navigator Gas continued to deliver robust results while advancing investments in lower-carbon shipping solutions and operational efficiency.”

He added that the company was also intensifying its focus on inclusion and workforce development, describing diverse perspectives and talent as essential to future success.
